Despite being called the Verizon XV6900, this device is not in any way, shape or form either a successor or a replacement to the XV6800. They are in fact radically different devices. The XV6800 is a business-oriented machines, while the XV6900 is designed to civilian customers. So to all those of you hoping for a sudden price drop on the XV6800, I fear, you wait in vain.
The XV6900 is Verizon’s version of the HTC Touch. An almost identical model was sold under the name of Sprint since last fall, while a version of GSM is widely used in Europe. This is a Windows Mobile device with a focus on the touch screen and supports Verizon’s EV-DO network.
Design & Construction
The new Verizon version of the Touch follows the style of the older Sprint and unlocked GSM versions almost exactly minimalist with a rounded design. The one big change is that the housing on the Verizon version, all white, which is a little unusual, and led Ed Hardy describe to make it look as a condition for the Touch like an egg. Nevertheless, some users are afraid to show dirt on the smartphone – the anti-stick-gloss surface comes to the grunge. It takes fingerprints, but they are not very visible when the unit at an angle to the light.
The entire construction is very solid, although a plastic housing. It feels good in the hand, rounded corners do wonders, so that the small size even smaller. HTC went to pass out of the way the device feel a smooth, aerodynamic, hiding the edges of the battery compartment and all other important functions of the device that might distract from their smoothness.
